Collector's notes: No TV commercial is more famous and mythic than Ridley Scott's "1984", Apple's TV ad for the newly introduced Macintosh personal computer. Based on George Orwell's acclaimed 1949 novel "Nineteen Eighty-Four", which is set in a frightening dystopian society ruled by "Big Brother" in the then futuristic year of 1984. The first (and last) time this advert aired on national television was on January 22, 1984 during Super Bowl XVIII.

Collector's notes: Whether you love him or hate him, Tom Cruise is without a doubt, one of the most popular movie stars of the late 20th to early 21st centuries. Tom gained stardom by sliding in his undies to Bob Seger's "Old Time and Rock and Roll" in the teen comedy "Risky Business". Since then, Cruise has had a series of hit movies like "Top Gun", "Rain Man", "Born on the Fourth of July" and others into the 1990s. Unforunately, over the past 5 years, Tom's eccentric personal life has gotten more attention than his acting chops. His public involvement with Scientology, to marrying much younger actress Katie Holmes has made Cruise not only a worldwide celebrity, but a tabloid target.

Collector's notes: Those eyes, that hair, those Calvins! What young woman didn't want to be Brooke Shields? Having been in the business since infancy, Brooke gained popularity with films like "Pretty Baby" and "Blue Lagoon". Despite the controversy of those roles, Shields was able to mantain a good teen idol status. From appearing in thousands of magazines, to starring in those saucy Calvin Klein jeans adverts, to even dating Michael Jackson and John Travolta, Brooke Shields was indeed the "it" girl of the early '80s.
